The Humourversity’s Australian Humour High Alpine (AH-HA) Walk
Come and Join us on our AH-HA Walk!
Humourversity is launching the Australian Humour High Alpine (AH-HA) Walk on the Australian Alps, a venture the 650km length of the AAWT which follows the crest of the alpine range from Walhalla in South-east Victoria to Canberra in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). This life-changing walk is conducted on weekends this year, commencing 14 January 2012. You are welcome to join for all or any of the sections of your choosing.
This Australian Alps Walking Track was developed in the 1970s and greatly represents the cooperative spirit across the Australian, Victorian, New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory governments. It crosses some of Australia’s finest alpine national parks: the Baw Baw, the Alpine, the Kosciuszko and the Namadgi National Park.
In many ways, it is the most challenging and long distance track in Australia. Completion of the journey will take us approximately 40 days, due to the instalment sections we have chosen. With numerous tough climbs, river traverse, the journey will be slow at times, but not without a laugh or two.
Regardless of the challenges of the track and the well-known variable weather from dry and dusty to snow, we believe this journey, with our Humour Swags on our backs will be one guaranteed Aussie belly-laughing sport.
Thousands of years ago Aboriginal ancestors formed intricate pathways across this whole region. Their journeys were to find food and conduct spiritual, cultural and important intertribal business. Early settlers are known to have followed these routes or were guided into the high country by Aboriginal people.
The AH-HA Walk reflects the living of our Aussie Humour values (People, Planet, Profitability, Personal development and Peace). In the midst of the breaking dawn and the magnificent towering mountain forests, stunning snow gums and rugged alpine summits, we will develop empathy, find peace and profit from the HA-HA skills in facing the tough challenges of life.
